Basic Hair Painting Tutorial by pogopuggie Basic Hair Painting Tutorial by pogopuggie
A no BS painting hair tutorial for people, like myself, who are always looking for a short and sweet tutorial to show every second person who asks about it. It's really that simple and for those who are learning processes it's all they need as a building block to develop their own style.

It always astounds me how many people don't know about that short-cut, even people who have used Photoshop for years. I tell anyone I see using it but I don't want to come off as a dick.

Well, even professionals don´t know everything (at least the ones I work with), so there´s point in mentioning these detailes in tutorials... nobody would dis you for being "redundantly" detailed, I think =)

Did I say I like your gallery very much? I do =)

When you're trying it out don't stress over it or think too hard about it, just let loose. Worst thing you can do is think too hard about where your strands are going because you end up with chunky jagged slow lines. Movement and freedom are key :)
I hope this proves helpful!

Do you think you could do this for blonde, too? :eager:

That's the colour I always have issue with.

Playing with this image using Photoshop's hue/saturation adjustment (Ctrl+U) will get you all kinds of hair colours :D If you set it to around +15 hue, +46 saturation, +18 lightness you'll get a nice blonde pallet. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll draw up another one :)

I used it on this picture ([link]) however I didn't really follow the rules right...I *gasp* smudged and blended which made it less pretty-ish. BUT I am going to try again perhaps on a more serious picture. :)

It looks that way because it is :P So many tutorials overcomplicate such simple things. I've seen your drawings missy, this is a walk in the park for you! :la:
