College has left little time for personal practice of late but I have managed some scribbling. One of my recent assessments was to illustrate a quote and was surprised to receive Roy Batty's epic and memorable final-curtain speech from Blade Runner. This is not that illustration, however the research I went in to inspired this one. It opened up the thought provoking arena of artificial life and all it entails, from the controversy of genetic tampering to the very value of life.
I started this work with a mind fuelled on inquiry, one that had been disgusted by an article about partial-birth abortion and had also seen a lot of Giger. I came back to it after having seen the second Transformers movie and I suddenly had a pressing need to make something explode. There are effectively two works going on here.
The title and name of the embryo supporting machine are in reference to the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick
The suggester says: Electric Shepherd by ~pogopuggie is an impressive artwork with an beautiful colour scheme and a great first sight impact. The background details are well developed, and the composition is wonderful. (Suggested by ^Atramina and Featured by `gucken)
Absolutely love this. This was always the one daily deviation that didn't only stick with me for a day... I left Deviantart & only recently came back, so in effect I'm re-faving right now, heh. Love the concept, colours, the whole tone of the piece. Fantastic.
Nice work, a great understanding of the sentiment and mood of the subject, besides the terrific rendering and form, top marks for illustrating the suject matter
it's very good, gives sort of a chilling feel... and also reminds me of Arjen Lucassen's music in some way
